LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Men and Women's Basketball each received berths into the 2015 Golden State Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament, which begins tonight and runs through March 10.
 
The tournament is held at different host school sites up until the date of the championship games (March 10). The men and women's championship will be held at a designated host site, likely the highest remaining men's seed in the tournament, and will be broadcast on FOX Sports Prime Ticket.
 
TICKET INFO
There are no complimentary tickets at any game throughout the GSAC tournament. Parents, students, alumni and fans will all be charged admission at each of the games. General admission is $10 per game, Student tickets and tickets for high school age and younger are $5 per game. Reserved seating tickets will be offered for the championship games at a price of $15 each.
 
MEDIA
Most games throughout the tournament will be broadcast by the host schools. Any Biola home or road game that is broadcast live can be accessed at http://portal.stretchinternet.com/biola/. Teams on the road against Concordia through March 7 will not be broadcast as they will be played at a neutral site. Check the "Upcoming Events" section at http://athletics.biola.edu/ to get live stat and live video links on game day. If there are no live stats or video offered, Biola will have updates through its Twitter handle (@BiolaAthletics).
 
MEN'S NOTES
Biola enters the tournament as the No. 7 seed in the bracket. This seeding has the Eagles facing No. 7 Concordia (24-6, 13-3 GSAC) in the first round of the tournament. The Eagles go against the Eagles of Irvine at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday March 5. The game will take place at IRVINE VALLEY COLLEGE.
 
Biola finished its regular-season schedule with five straight losses and was just 4-12 in GSAC play after beginning the season 12-2. Biola and Concordia faced each other twice during conference play, with CUI getting the win each time out. Concordia averaged 85 points-per-game against Biola, while the Eagles posted just 65 points on average in the two losses. Coming into this season Biola had won eight contests in a row against Concordia.
 
If Biola is to have success at CUI it will need to focus on shutting down recent All-GSAC selections Ty Armstrong and Stephen Grosey. Armstrong shoots 50 percent from the field and averages more than 17 points-per-game, while Grosey led the GSAC with 19 double-doubles this season and is statistically the best rebounder in the nation.
 
The winner of Thursday's game goes on to face the winner of The Master's College at No. 21 Westmont on Saturday March 7. Biola was a combined 1-3 against those two schools, winning its first matchup with TMC this season.

WOMEN'S NOTES
Biola comes into the tournament as a scary team to many of the top-ranked opponents in the conference. The Eagles are an underdog again as the No. 5 seed in the tournament bracket, but the team has the ability to surge for a really good night and knock off anyone in the conference, as evidenced with their win over No. 2 seed Vanguard two weeks ago.
 
Biola faces The Master's College to kick off the tournament. The game takes place in Santa Clarita on Wednesday March 4 at 7:30 p.m. The Eagles went 0-2 against TMC during the regular season with a five-point loss at home and a blowout loss at Bross Court on Feb. 24.
 
The Eagles' success depends on which team shows up to face the Mustangs. This 2014-15 squad has been marked with inconsistency all season long. When they are firing on all cylinders it's a squad that can beat the No. 8 team in the country and take the conference champions to overtime. When they're not, it's a team that shoots in the 30 percent range and loses by 20 points.
 
Playoff time should see the players rise up to the best of their ability and give the Eagles a chance to compete against a TMC squad that is in the top-5 in the nation in three-point shooting and a top-15 defense, allowing just 59.2 points-per-game this year. TMC recently had two players named All-GSAC. Bianca Cubello is their second-leading scorer, averaging 10.5 points-per-game while shooting .488 from the floor. Megan Lindsley is their leading scorer (11.6ppg) and is powered by her ability to get the ball up consistently from behind the arc, making 33 of 88 attempts this year.
 
The winner of this game moves on to face the winner of a game between No. 7 Concordia and William Jessup. If Concordia defeats WJU in the first round, the semifinal game will be held inside Chase Gymnasium.
