LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola could not keep the good vibes going as it ran up against No. 15 San Diego Christian, falling 2-7 at home.
Â
The loss saw the Eagles' three-match winning streak come to a stop and also saw
Philip Westwood's singles winning streak get snapped at 10 matches, losing in straight sets in the No. 2 singles spot.
Â
Biola's two match wins came in singles play, as
Luke Mountain won in straight sets (6-4; 6-1) at No. 4 and
David Garcia avenged a blowout loss in set two of his match to win the super breaker at No. 6 (6-2; 1-6; 10-7).
Â
The Eagles could not scrape together any wins in doubles competition, but were not defeated decisively, at least not at the No. 2 and No. 3 pairings.
Â
SDC's No. 1 pairing put on an impressive display in an 8-0 victory, but the other two matches were just 8-5 wins for the Hawks.
Â
Biola falls to 10-9 (4-5 GSAC) after the loss and SDC improves to 9-6 (5-4 GSAC) following the victory. The Eagles' second-to-last week of regular season competition opens with a home match with Lewis-Clark State College (ID) on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
