RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Biola men's basketball adds 6-foot-7-inch forward Jeff Gonzalez from Riverside Poly High School to its 2015-16 roster.
Â
Gonzalez joins the Eagles after spending two years playing community college ball at Riverside City College (2012-13) and Cerritos College (2014-15). He earned all-conference honors for his year at Cerritos and started all 28 games for the Falcons.
Â
Gonzalez averaged 29.6 minutes-per-game this past season and was second on the team in scoring with 11.6 points-per-game. He led the team in rebounding, averaging 6.5 per game, about two-third defensive and a third offensive
Â
"We like Jeff's size and versatility. He will be the kind of stretch forward we like, because he can shoot the ball and allows us to do a lot of different things on the offensive and defensive side of the ball," said Assistant Coach
Julious Coleman. "He is a great spiritual fit and will potentially be a great teammate. Our guys really hit it off with him when he was here and we know he comes from a wonderful home."
Â
Before his time at the two community colleges, Gonzalez shone in his time with the Bears. He was named All-CIF second team, all-area third team and All-Big VIII first team during his senior campaign, leading Poly to the CIF Quarterfinals, which was the program's best finish in 16 years.
Â
He will come to Biola in the fall of 2015 and plans to study business. He hopes to become a business owner after he graduates.
Â
"Everyone [at Biola] is friendly, the team is full of good guys and the education is first rate. Why not choose Biola?" said Gonzalez.
