LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Both Biola basketball teams finished their 2014-15 seasons with winning records on the court, and the Eagles' student-athletes were winning in the classroom as well, bringing in six Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete nods.
 
The men's team contributed five of those six honors and Aubree Mittel netted the only academic honor for the women's team. In order to earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete status student-athletes must be at least a junior and have a cumulative grade point average above 3.5.
 
Biola's six honorees is more than any other Golden State Athletic Conference school attained. The Eagles' five male scholar-athletes signifies the most of any GSAC institution.
 
What is most remarkable is that the five student-athletes from the men's team that earned the award represent 100 percent of the male student-athletes eligible for the award as the Eagles only had five juniors or seniors on this season's squad.
 
Pierre Zook, Colin Bossio and Mike Kurtz led the way as the three seniors to earn the recognition and Caelan Tiongson and Christian Misi were Biola's two juniors. This 2014-15 Scholar-Athlete nod represents the first time any of these six have earned this award.
 
The NAIA and Daktronics honored 104 women scholar-athletes and 48 male scholar-athletes nationwide. Biola's six honorees also earned GSAC Scholar-Athlete recognition.
