VALLEJO, Calif. --- Biola sits 12^th of 15 teams through one round of the 2015 Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, hosted by CSU East Bay.
 
The Eagles took to Hiddenbrooke Golf Course on a sunny Monday afternoon to begin this tournament, getting scores that spanned all across the leaderboard in the single round on day one.

"This is a tough course for our players," said Head Coach Jane Carr. "It's a very interesting course with a lot of blind shots and narrow fairways. It is truly target golf."
 
Biola's lowest opening round tally came from Whitney Jammerman, who began her spring season with a 78, which is five strokes better than her low round from the fall season. She took advantage of the clear weather in the mid-60s to card a round that placed her tied four 24^th in the 83-woman field.
 
She was the only Eagle to score better than the field average (84.12) through the first day of competition. Jasmine Rodriguez finished just barely above this field average, coming into the clubhouse with an 85. She is tied for 54^th overall and sits just four strokes outside of the top half of the field.
 
The drop-off after Rodriguez is quite steep as the Eagles' next lowest scorer comes in at a 94. The Eagles' final three scorers will all look for improvement on day two of the tournament, hoping the help keep Biola where it is at on the leaderboard.
 
The Eagles are nearly 30 strokes behind Simon Fraser, which sits in 11^th place, but just four strokes and 24 strokes ahead of Simpson and Holy Names, which sit in 13^th and 14^th place, respectively.
 
Sonoma State leads the tournament with a first-round 299, which is three strokes ahead of Grand Valley State, the second-place team. The Seawolves also have the leading individual in Hannah Gregg, who shot a 69 in round one.
 
The field begins competition at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. It is forecast to be in the low-60s with sunny skies and very mild winds in Vallejo tomorrow.
