LA MIRADA, Calif. --- It was a day filled with personal best swims at Splash Aquatic Center as Biola continued its efforts at the 2015 Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference championships.
Â
The Eagles were dropping seconds all over the place, but most important was that it dropped time from its 400-medley relay, which is a great sign headed into the NAIA National Championship meet, where the Eagles always have very competitive relay teams.
Â
The Eagles' women's relay team finished seventh (3:58.92) and the men's side placed sixth (3:35.19).
Â
"It was great to see both our relays drop a couple of seconds off their season-best times," said Head Coach
Eddie Shepard. "I think that going into nationals we are going to have some very competitive relays."
Â
Biola added one member to its 2015 nationals team on Friday, as
Jennifer Walker swam a 1:01.90 in the 100-butterfly prelims to qualify for her second trip to nationals in as many years.
Â
After punching their ticket to the national meet yesterday,
Chad LeJeune and
Dominique Kaijser each added one more event to their schedule with successful swims today.
Â
LeJeune swam a 1:00.23 to qualify in the 100-breaststroke and Kaijser posted a nearly sub-1:00 (1:00.78) in the 100-butterfly to add a stroke event to their 50-freestyle qualification.
Â
"We had a really strong two sessions of swimming today," said Shepard. "Overall we saw a lot of personal-bests and some very fast swims."
Â
The Tixier sister had the best individual placement in any event for the Eagles, each grabbing one top-6 individual finish.
Â
Christine Tixier sped to a fourth-place finish in the 100-butterfly (:55.53), while Lisa Tixier finished sixth in the 400-IM (4:35.69). Both swimmers were the top NAIA swimmers to place in their respective events.
Â
Shane Brinson placed third in the three-meter dive (258.05) on the final day of diving competition.
Â
The Eagles are back in action on Saturday morning for the final day of swimming. The events include: 200-backstroke, 200-breaststroke, 200-butterfly, 100-freestyle, 1,650-freestyle and the 400-freestyle relay.
Â
"We're really looking forward to tomorrow and some more great swims," said Shepard.
