ORANGE, Calif. --- Biola Swim & Dive was back in action for the first time in several weeks on Saturday and the team did not miss a beat in a meet against Redlands.
 
Biola won both relays on both sides as the teams swam a 200-freestyle relay and 200-medley relay. Darrin Smith and Eddie Campana were on both of the men's relays and Angela Kirschner, Christina Ali and Lisa Tixer all competed in both relays for the women.
 
"I think that the way that they swam today demonstrated that they are all really ready to put up some really great swims next weekend," said Head Coach Eddie Shepard.
 
This dual meet was swam as a way to tune-up for next weekend's 2015 Winter Invitational hosted by La Verne.
 
Outside of the relays the men got a ton of individual strong swims from the men's side as they worked to a win over the Panthers. Official team scores will not be released until Monday after the team diving competition is completed.
 
While no swimmers earned new national cuts the men had six different first-place finishes from five swimmers. Michael Severi earned two individual wins as he took first place in the 100-freestyle (:49.29) and 200-freestyle (1:48.53).
 
William Granberry had to work the hardest for his individual victory as he claimed first in the 1,650 with an 18:27.04.
 
"One of my favorite swims of the day was the men's 1,650-freestyle," said Shepard. "Will had a three body length lead for most of the race, but a Chapman swimmer closed right up next to him with 200 yards left. They went back and forth for those 200 yards, but Will was able to just out touch him at the end. Sometimes those long races can drag on, but this was so close that both teams were up cheering on their swimmers the whole second half of the race. I was really proud of how well Will finished that swim and he got a well deserved win."
 
In addition to Severi and Granberry's wins the men got first-place finishes from Daniel Vale (100-butterfly), Chad LeJeune (100-breaststroke) and Campana (100-backstroke).
 
On the women's side the wins came from familiar faces as Ali, Tixier and Abby Blake all earned victories.
 
Tixier swam a 4:39.14 to win the 400-IM, Ali finished the 100-breaststroke in 1:07.19 and Blake got the win in both the 200-freestyle (1:48.53) and the 500-freestyle (5:20.49).
 
Next week is the biggest meet of the regular season as the Eagles will compete for three days at the Winter Invite where it will attempt to get a bunch of new national qualifiers.
