LA MIRADA, Calif. --- In helping Biola Women's Soccer wrap up its first Golden State Athletic Conference championship in 11 years
Marina Rodriguez wrapped up her second GSAC Defender of the Week award of the season.
Â
The team's senior keeper kept a clean sheet in the conference-clinching 1-0 victory over Arizona Christian on the road on Halloween. She only had to make two saves in order to keep ACU off the board as the team only got two first-half shots and that was it for the whole game thanks to a busy Biola offense and a strong defensive effort.
The win helped Rodriguez improve to 6-1-1 for the season and she's now 14-3-1 in her last four seasons with the Eagles. She's got five shutouts this season to bring her up to six for her career.
The Eagles had to win that game in order to claim their share of the GSAC title with No. 8 Westmont. A clean sheet was essential in the one-goal game and that's exactly what Rodriguez was able to provide.
Â
Biola earns a first round bye with its 13-2-3 (7-1-2 GSAC) regular season record and will next be in action Nov. 12 at 2:30 p.m. at Biola as it hosts the GSAC Tournament Semifinals.
