LA GRANDE, Ore. --- Biola Men's Soccer appears in the NAIA National Championship Tournament for the first time since 2011. The Eagles face Corban (Ore.) in an Opening Round game that is for a ticket to the big dance in Delray Beach, Florida.

The Opening Round match takes place at Sparks Field at Willamette University at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21. This is the first all-time meeting between the Eagles and the Warriors.
 
Biola earned its spot in the NAIA National Championship Tournament Opening Round after defeating No. 15 Vanguard 1-0 in the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament last Saturday. Corban lost in the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournamnent semifinals last week after Great Falls (Mont.) won the penalty kick shootout 8-7. The Warriors earned an at-large berth into the national championship field.

ABOUT CORBAN:
Corban is back in the NAIA National Championship Tournament Opening Round for the third season in a row. The Warriors lost to Concordia (CA) in 2013 and to Ashford (Iowa) in 2014. Corban played against Concordia in a game that was hosted at Biola in 2013 due to Concordia's field not meeting the NAIA national specifications. 

The Warriors punched their ticket to nationals by finishing No. 17 in the national coaches' and coming in at No. 13 in the final MRPI list. They were 17-2-1 in the regular season and conference playoffs with losses to No. 10 Rocky Mountain and Eastern Oregon. Rocky Mountain won the CCC Tournament and is also in the tournament field.

Corban's gameplan is to shut other teams down with a rock steady defensive effort. The Warriors are No. 1 in the nation in goals against/game (0.380). The team has 14 shutouts in its 20 games played this season.

The Warriors' biggest attacking threat is Jamaican import Quamie Dinnall, who leads the team in goals with nine and also leads the NAIA in assists with 18. Dinnall was named the CCC Player of the Year, while Corban's goalkeeper, Jordan Farr, earned the CCC Defensive Player of the Year honors. The team features six all-conference players.

Northwest (Wash.) is the only shared opponent that these two sides faced this season. Biola won its season-opener over Northwest, 4-0. Corban faced Northwest once in the regular season and once in the conference tournament. It came away with 2-1 and 4-0 victories.
