Five Earn Academic All-District Honors

Biola soccer teams have dominated the pitch this fall and these five are also dominating their coursework.

Jessie Burns, Cristhian Aparicio, Keaton Kerr, Clayton Mohler and True Tamplin earn honors.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Not only are both the Biola soccer teams in top position in the Golden State Athletic Conference standings, but their student-athletes are also in the top ranks in the classroom as five earn CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition.
 
Four players from the Eagles' 11-4-1 men's team earned the honor, while Jessie Burns represented the 12-2-3 women's side with her first career academic honor.
 
Burns is a junior psychology major with a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average through the start of this fall semester. Not only that, but she's also one of Biola's most important players on the pitch. She's appeared in all 17 matches this year and has five goals and an assist to rank third on the team in points.
 
Four players from the men's team were honored with the recognition with each of them receiving it for the first time in their Biola career. Sophomores Clayton Mohler, True Tamplin and Keaton Kerr joined senior Cristhian Aparicio in receiving the recognition.
 
Aparicio is a senior that came to the Eagles in his sophomore season and has been a solid role player for Head Coach Todd Elkins over the past three seasons. He's got a 3.92 cumulative GPA as a business administration major. Aparicio has logged an even 500 minutes in 13 appearances through the first 16 games of the year.
 
Mohler, Kerr and Tamplin all earn the honor in their first year eligible for the prestigious award. Mohler is a vital part of Biola's back line and is third on the team in minutes played to this point in the season. He's got a 3.75 cumulative GPA entering his second year of college. Kerr and Tamplin each have a perfect 4.0 GPA as business administration majors.
 
Student-athletes earn CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition by way of a national vote. Student-athletes in their sophomore year or above with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above are eligible. Nominees are voted on by the institutions' Sports Information Directors in the district. District winners move on and are nominated for CoSIDA Academic All-American honors.
