LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola swimmers always push to be the best, and in order to get to a point where you are the best, you've got to go against the best. That's exactly what the Eagles did as they hosted California Baptist, Fresno Pacific and Concordia at SPLASH! Aquatic Center on Saturday.

The Eagles lost to all three opponents in this quad-dual, where CBU and FPU dominated in the pool, each earning five five team victories in their head-to-head matchups.
 
Biola's swimmers performed well in their individual races, setting some new personal-bests and getting a few swimmers inside the top-three in this very fast meet.
 
Lisa Tixier was the only Eagle to get an individual victory on the afternoon, winning the 50-freestyle by :00.23 over California Baptist's NCAA All-American Mary Hanson.
 
"We faced some really tough competition today," said Head Coach Eddie Shepard. "While we did not come out on top our kids put up some good swims."
 
In addition to good swims came some good dives from the Eagles' lone diver, Shane Brinson. The first-year diver, who has already qualified for the NAIA National Championship Meet, finished second in the one-meter dive (227.03) and the three-meter dive (253.95)
 
Other top-three finishes came courtesy Christine Tixier and Eddie Campana. Tixier placed just behind an insanely fast Alena Rumiantceva, also from CBU, in the 100-breaststroke (1:07.21), and Campana finished behind a senior from FPU in the 200-backstroke (1:59.74).
 
"We were viewing this meet as an opportunity to go against some really tough teams to prepare ourselves well for conference," said Shepard. "I think we not only accomplished that, but we also saw that we can swim some really good times even when we are this worn out from training."
 
Biola saw one of its most consistent relays, the women's 400-freestyle relay, finish third overall, and the Eagles finished ahead of Concordia in each of the day's women's relays.
 
The Eagles go back to training and resurface next Saturday for their final meet before the Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference Championships in late-February.
