Hoenecke Grabs Her First GSAC Player Of The Week

After a stellar two games, Lauren Hoenecke is named the GSAC Volleyball Player of the Week.

Lauren Hoenecke dominated the GSAC competition in rotation as Biola's middle blocker.
LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Lauren Hoenecke spent the last week tearing through the Golden State Athletic Conference competition laid out before her, and her efforts were rewarded with the latest GSAC Volleyball Player of the Week award.

Hoenecke teamed up with Amy Weststeyn to hit their way straight through San Diego Christian and Arizona Christian en route to two 3-0 in-conference wins between Sept. 22-28.

It was a breakthrough week for the junior middle blocker, as she racked up 19 kills and had an average attack percentage of .531, which is .197 higher than the team average of Biola over those two matches (.334).

She had an especially strong match during Biola's meeting in the middle of a thunderstorm with Arizona Christian on Saturday. Hoenecke logged 12 kills in 19 attack attempts, committing zero attack errors on the afternoon.

This is Hoenecke's first-ever GSAC Athlete of the Week honor, but if she keeps up this level of play it will certainly not be her last. There are no signs of slowing from the 6-foot-1-inch middle, as she has hit .300 or better in nine of 18 matches this year and just reached 100 kills for the first time in her career. She has at least seven kills, in limited playing time, in four of the last five matches, and she has hit better than .385 in each of the last three.

Hoenecke leads Biola into two more conference contests this week, and the Eagles are back in the comfort of Chase Gymnasium after a week on the road. They host The Master's College of Thursday evening and go head-to-head with winless William Jessup on Saturday at 2 p.m.
