RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. --- Jeremy Barth is a natural leader with a bat to back it up. In 2012, he led his Palos Verdes High School squad to a league championship, and in one year at El Camino College he took the Warriors to the playoffs. Now, he has a chance to lead a rebuilding Biola baseball program to similar success.
 
Barth is a corner infielder with baseball in his blood. He becomes the third sibling in his family to play collegiate ball at a Christian institution. His brother, Jamie, played for Westmont, while his other brother, Jason, donned a uniform for Oral Roberts.
 
He has hopes to ride the baseball train all the way to the end and eventually become a professional baseball player. He is in classes at Biola now and is majoring in communications so that he can enter a career in public speaking once his baseball career is over.
 
Barth made a big impact for the Sea Kings during his time at Palos Verdes High School. He appeared in 84 games with the varsity roster and hit .363 over his career there. He added the league championship referenced above to all-league first team honors and all-area second team nods.
 
"Jeremy's athleticism and passion to serve the Lord brought him to Biola," said Head Coach Jay Sullenger. "He can play either corner in the infield and has a nice left-handed stroke that should play well as he finds his place among the team this fall."
 
Barth put that left-handed stroke to use in his one year at El Camino College. He earned all-conference second team honors and took the Warriors into postseason play. In the midst of that postseason run Barth was also named to the school's Dean's List.
 
His postseason experience will help him guide a young Biola team as it seeks to improve.
 
"Jeremy is one of those players that makes others better. He is a great addition to Biola baseball and what God is doing here," said Sullenger.
 
Barth notes that he was drawn to Biola because it was an opportunity for personal and spiritual growth.
