Box Score PRESCOTT, Ariz. --- It will definitely not be the most memorable game of the men's soccer season for No. 24 Biola, as the Eagles dropped one, 6-1, in a very lopsided road match at Embry-Riddle (AZ).
 
"It was a pretty disappointing performance," said Head Coach Todd Elkins. "We were expending a lot of energy attacking, and it left us without enough legs to get back on defense and they were determined to not drop another game at home."
 
Embry-Riddle entered tonight's contest following a 3-1 loss to Our Lady of the Lake on Friday afternoon. Biola entered this contest on the heels of a 2-1 victory over that same team.
 
The Eagles came in with confidence, which turns out to be overconfidence, while the Eagles of Embry-Riddle came in with sheer determination to defend their home turf.
 
The two teams seemed to be destined for a competitive match, as they traded opportunities throughout the first half, resulting in a 2-1 score at the half, but Biola simply did not have the shots it needed in the second frame.
 
True Tamplin was Biola's lone goal scorer, adding his second goal of the season.
 
"What happened most of the game, outside of True's goal, was just inadequate attack and not working hard enough to get numbers back behind the ball," said Elkins. "They were a team that could go up and down the field, attacking and defending, but we struggled to do both."
 
After Tamplin's goal made it a 2-1 contest, the Eagles began to push more pressure in their offensive third, looking to force an equalizer, but the well-conditioned Embry-Riddle squad was there every time it looked as if Biola had a chance to score.
 
This is how the home team got its third and fourth goals. Biola brought numbers forward on the attack, and Embry-Riddle was able to get a quick counter and make the most of its offensive chances.
 
After those two goals made it 4-1, the Eagles' entire team was tired, frustrated and really beat up. The host tacked on two more late for the eventual final of 6-1.
 
"It is a game we would like to forget result-wise, but it is one we can take a lot of lessons from," said Elkins. "It is one that feels like three losses, but in reality it is just one loss, so we will learn from it and move on."
 
It was Biola's first loss of the season, as the team falls to 3-1-1 with one preseason game left to play prior to the start of Golden State Athletic Conference play against Arizona Christian next week.
