Box Score IRVINE, Calif. --- For the third time this season, but the first time at this weekend's tournament, No. 8 Biola earned itself a three-set win (25-17, 25-13, 25-19) in a quick one against Olivet Nazarene.
 
Every aspect of the game came together in Biola's favor as it put forth a nearly flawless match against the Tigers. The most notable improvement came in the Eagle's performance at the serve. For the just the third time in the Eagles' first nine matches of 2014, Aaron Seltzer's squad had more service aces (8) than service errors (2).
 
Biola and ONU battled out the first 14 points of the match while the two teams were still feeling each other out, but once Biola broke from that 7-7 tie it never looked back. The Eagles ended the first set on an 18-10 run that showcased powerful kills from Joclyn Kirton and some fantastic setting from Biola's double-threat setting tag team of Allison Spencer and Ashton Arbuthnot.
 
"Both our setters did a really great job tonight," said Seltzer. "That is why we were able to close it out without dropping a set."
 
The second set was the Eagles' most efficient set, as they put away the Tigers using just 30 total attacks. The team's hitters hit at a .500-clip and made just one error in the set. Alex Brehaut and Jaci Schork were diving all over the floor and providing the setters with some great passes, while the duo also picked up 11 digs.
 
Thefinal set was much of the same from the Eagles, and it was concluded is fitting fashion, with a big kill by Amy Weststeyn.
 
Weststeyn finished with 13 kills, to lead Biola, and she also hit .550. All of the Eagles' hitters were spot on thanks to the terrific setting, and their efforts equated to a .473 final attack percentage, a mark that is .170 better than in any other match they played in during this tournament.
 
Biola's usual array of hitters were joined in their strong performances by Crissy Cunningham, Olivia Sorenson and Lauren Hoenecke, who combined for 11 kills and an attack percentage in the mid-.600s.
 
The Eagles improve to 7-2 following this win, and they close out a 3-1 weekend. The Tigers fall to 1-7 after dropping all of their matches this weekend in Irvine.
 
Biola swings back into action with four matches next week at the Carroll College tournament. The Eagles will go head-to-head with Montana State-Northern, Rocky Mountain, Carroll and Montana Tech.
