ERIE, Colo. --- Cort Sharp had a slightly different high school swimming experience than most, as he graduated from Peak to Peak Charter School, but her swam competitively for the Monarch High School Coyotes.
 
He will face no such conflict at the collegiate level, as he recently committed to join Head Coach Eddie Shepard's swim and dive program in the fall. He enters riding a wave of individual success that followed him throughout his years in high school pools.
 
"I am very excited for next year and so glad Cort will be joining us," said Shepard.
 
Sharp swam primarily freestyle events during high school, and he excelled as he qualified for the sectional and state competitions in the 50-, 100- and 200-freestyle. His best finish came in the 5A state competition as he placed 13^th overall in the 50-freestyle. He also earned a top-15 mark in the 100-freestyle in that same meet.
 
The newest Biola commit was recognized as one of the best among his peers, as his coaching staff named him the "Athlete of the Meet" following a meet at the Veteran's Memorial Aquatics Center on March 22 of this year. He finished 14^th in the 200-freestyle and 11^th in the 100-backstroke in this 35-team meet.
 
While not competing for the Coyotes, Sharp groomed his stroke with the Jeffco Hurricanes, a club team based in Evergreen, Colorado.
 
He plans to study engineering physics when he enters Biola, and he will choose the concentration in mechanical engineering.
 
"I am very excited to swim and study at Biola," said Sharp.
