SANTA CLARITA, Calif. --- Biola men's soccer is getting the total package with its signing of Riley Waldeck. Waldeck was a dual-sport athlete at Ellensburg High School and Hart High School, and he still found time to post exceptional grades, participate in volunteer events and build community.
 
Waldeck spent three years on the varsity soccer team, including serving as captain during the 2013-14 school year. He led his team to a Foothill League championship and a CIF SS Quarterfinal appearance as a senior.
 
"I am excited to have Riley as a part of the incoming class," said Head Coach Todd Elkins. "He is a solid player and a solid kid."
 
His senior season was the highlight of his high school athletic career, as Waldeck earned All-Foothill League first team and All-Santa Clarita Valley first team honors. This paired with his All-CWAC honorable mention as a freshman.

Waldeck also played basketball during his high school career as a Bulldog and Indian.
 
When he is not competing, Waldeck is hitting the books. This is evidenced by his plethora of academic honors. He is graduating with honors, and he earned scholar-athlete and "Academic Excellence" awards each season from 2010-2014. He is a lifetime member of the California Scholarship Federation and a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.
 
He will bring his brain and ability to ball to Biola this fall, and he plans to study kinesiology.
 
"I chose Biola because of the rich environment. It is a place to grow one's intellectual mind, while also growing one's spiritual faith with the support of fellow Christ followers," said Waldeck. "I have the opportunity to play soccer for a program that is competitive on the field, while also growing young men who live for Christ."
 
Somehow, in between studying and practicing, Waldeck always finds time to participate in his hobbies, which include hiking, cliff diving, body surfing, pickleball and volunteering with Younglife and the Special Olympics.
