PHOENIX, Ariz. --- Biola's volleyball program got a little deeper at its setter position as Head Coach Aaron Seltzer got a commitment from Allison Spencer out of Sunnyslope High School.
 
The three-year varsity athlete will join a Biola squad that will have a little bit of a different starting rotation this year as it lost three of its starters from 2013-14, including its setter.
 
Spencer comes into her freshman year boasting some impressive high school numbers along with an unmatched work ethic.
 
"I am so excited to have Allison join our program. She is exactly what we are looking for in the setting position," said Seltzer. "She plays with enough energy to power a small city. All of us believe she will be a huge impact for our program and we are excited to get her here."
 
During her time as a Viking, Spencer also participated on the varsity swim team while she dominated inside the gym to the tune of 5.8 assists per set, 2.4 digs per set and a nearly perfect serving percentage.
 
She led her team to a 2011 state championship and an undefeated regular season in 2013. Individually, she was an all-league first team player, all-state honorable mention and she was also recognized with an all-district first team nod.
 
Her athletic ability comes in part from the pedigree of collegiate athletics that runs in her family. Her father, Todd, swam for Youngstown State and she has cousins who've played volleyball at Xavier and Softball at New Mexico State.
 
While she excelled in competition she also poured much of her focus into academics, helping her finish in the top three percent of her class while making the honor roll in each of her four years.
 
This member of the National Honor Society will start her studies at Biola in the fall and plans to major in criminology. She hopes that after her time here she can work for the government combatting cyber terrorism.
 
First, she will have a chance to shine in a red and black Eagles uniform.
 
"I chose Biola because of the outstanding campus and community it provides," said Spencer. "Not only do they have my major, but I am also able to play a high level of volleyball."
