NAIA day two

Men's Track & Field

Relay Replay

Biola finishes fourth in the 4x800m replay for the second straight time at the NAIA national meet.

Biola's 4x800m relay team was the highlight of day two, earning All-American honors with a fourth place finish.

GULF SHORES, Ala. --- Biola was set up for a big performance during the middle day of competition at the 2014 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and the Eagles did not disappoint, earning another finals qualification and four NAIA All-Americans.

The 4x800m relay team of Brooke Arvidson, Lyndee Dawson, Anika Gasner and Alexandra Sciarra finished what it started yesterday by running fourth in the final race this afternoon (9:09.42) to earn four All-American plaques.

The fourth-place finish matched what Biola's 4x800m relay team did at the 2014 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships earlier this year.

"To be fourth in the nation at both indoor and outdoor nationals is huge," said Head Coach Jonathan Zimmerman. "It was a great run despite it being 86 degrees and humid. Everyone is competing well."

Sciarra competed in an individual event to go along with her relay run, and she found herself finishing seventh in the 800m to earn a qualification for tomorrow's finals. She ran a 2:10.26 to set her new personal-best and giver herself two events to run tomorrow afternoon (880m, 400m H).

Following the All-American honor she scooped up in the 4x800m relay, Sciarra is now an eight-time All-American with a chance to become a 10-time All-American by the end of competition.

Kate Smiley was the only other Eagle to compete on Friday, as she became just the second Biola student-athlete to ever compete in the 100m dash at an NAIA national meet. She ran a :12.34 to place 23rd overall.

Tomorrow's competition will be all finals, as the Eagles finish off their trip with runs in the men and women's 3,000m steeplechase, 400m hurdles and 800m.
