NAIA day two T&F

Men's Track & Field

Six Is The Magic Number

Biola gets six All-Americans on day two of the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

GENEVA, Ohio --- It was another banner day for Biola women's Indoor Track & Field program as the team earned six NAIA All-American awards with strong finishes in a relay and the pole vault.

Nicole Falkenstein set a new school record in the pole vault and finished fourth, while her teammate, Taylor McCahon, also came in as an All-American in eighth. Falkenstein's successful vault at 3.68m eclipsed the school record that McCahon set at the Indoor nationals two seasons ago at this event.

The All-American nods become a combined sixth between the two student-athletes, as Falkenstein grabs her second and McCahon her fourth.

Biola got four other All-Americans with a solid run in the 4x800m relay. It is the fifth consecutive season that Biola's team in this event went home with the All-American plaques. This year's racers included Kathleen Bell, Lyndee Dawson, Anika Gasner and Alexandra Sciarra. They placed fourth overall with a 9:14.46.

Sciarra also made some individual headlines when she smashed the school's record in the 800m. She ran a 2:12.18 to finish with the fastest qualifying time after prelims. She will go in the finals tomorrow, the last day at the Championships.

Sciarra set the record in the 800m, and in the process took a record away from Gasner, who set the previous 800m-mark last season. Gasner made up for that with her qualification run in the 1,000m run. She put up a 2:57.25 to secure her spot in tomorrow's finals. She will have a chance to break her sister, Kelsey Gasner's, school record in that event if she shaves just under four seconds.

The efforts put forth by the Eagles' student-athletes has Biola sitting in the top 10 after the first two-thirds of competition.

Everything finishes up tomorrow from Geveva, Ohio as Carrie Soholt, Danny Ledesma, Gasner, Sciarra and Dawson all have a chance to compete in some event finals and bring home more All-American hardware.
