PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. --- After a successful round one on Saturday, the Eagles put up even better scores in their final round on Sunday at the UC Santa Cruz Invitational.

Each Eagle at the very least matched their previous round's score en route to posting finishes among the top 30. Each Biola golfer finished in a position that becomes one of their top-3 finishes of the season.
 
Jackie Mata led the way with an impressive 163 (+19) to finish in 17^th place overall. She dropped five strokes from her day one score to shoot a 79 in the second and final round. It was the senior's first time this season shooting a round in the 70s.
 
Mata shot 10 pars in the early-morning round, and she had an especially impressive shot on the 11^th hole, where she chipped in to birdie. It was a shot that made the one stroke difference to push her into the 70s.
 
Amanda Hobbs did not begin her day with a solid hole, as she did in the first round, as she hit a ball out of bounds and began with a triple-bogey. She rebounded quite well, going on to finish with an 82. So, despite losing three strokes on her first hole, she improved by three strokes on yesterday's score and finished in 22^nd place.
 
Jasmine Rodriguez was the final finisher for the Eagles, and she was consistent as could be, matching her 86 from the first round. Her combined tally of 172 (+28) helped her place 30^th in the 49-woman field.
 
The Eagles again could not place in the team standings due to having to few competitors, but could have finished fifth of the nine teams if they had a fourth golfer who put up scores similar to Hobbs, who was the "average" of the group of three.
 
George Fox took the tournament with a 47-over total of 623, finishing six strokes ahead of the University of Redlands. George Fox benefitted from having two players in the top-5 and three in the top-10, including the individual champion, Sydney Maluenda.
 
Biola has exactly two weeks off to prepare for the Golden State Athletic Conference/Cal-Pac tournament that begins April 14.
