REDLANDS, Calif. --- Biola made some strong strides at its first official outdoor event of the season on Friday evening. Jonathan Zimmerman brought a large contingent to the Redlands Invite and walked away with three quick NAIA championship qualifiers.
 
The Eagles' first priority was to notch a qualifying time in a relay they have brought to the national meet in each of the last four years. Alexandra Sciarra, Anika Gasner, Lyndee Dawson and Brooke Arvidson sped to a 9:16.16 in the 4x800m relay to smash the "A" standard qualifying mark in that event and make it five straight years for Biola.

Sciarra continued her amazing senior season by earning another individual qualification in the 800m. Her 2:14.12 got her the Eagles' other "A" qualifying time of the event and ensures her a trip to Gulf Shores, Ala.
 
Biola's All-American women pole vaulters got right back up to speed by notching a "B" height in the vault. They both hit 3.5m and ended at the same height for the fourth time this season.
 
Some personal records fell on Friday as Kevin Horchler hit a 15:09 in the 5,000m and Megan Crumley finished just a hair shy of her personal-best in a solid win of the javelin throw (36m).
 
Biola competes again next Saturday in San Diego, Calif. at the Point Loma Invitational.
