No. 4 Knockout

No. 4 Westmont made quick work of the Eagles on Saturday, taking the match 9-0.

Brandon Chang performed well on Saturday. Despite being unable to get a point for Biola, he kept his matches close.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- For the second consecutive day, Biola found itself on the wrong side of a 9-0 tennis match.  This time, the result was one that was to be anticipated as the team faced No. 4 Westmont.

The Eagles were just 1-34 in matches against the Warriors over the course of the 2012 and 2013 seasons, and through the first meeting of 2014 that trend continues.

The singles matches opened the morning play, and Westmont made quick work of the Eagles, only allowing three Eagles to even get two point on the board against their relentless attack. Tayven Townsend and Brandon Chang, at No. 3 and No. 4, put up the most points, each putting up two in one set and one in the other.

Double matches were just as rough for Head Coach David Goodman's players. The best output came in the No. 3 matchup, where Chang and Rodric Pence were able to put up five points against a senior and sophomore team from Westmont.

Biola has now lost two straight after winning their season-opener against Cal Tech. They will have a chance to right the ship next Saturday when they host Arizona Christian.
