CLAREMONT, Calif. --- It was the absolute last chance for Biola to get any of its student-athletes qualified for the NAIA Indoor National Championships, and the team went out and got four men to punch their tickets to Mentor, Ohio.
 
Danny Ledesma, Kevin Horchler, Shane Brinson and James McCahon combined to run the distance medley relay for the Eagles at the Rossi Relays hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps colleges.
 
They ate their Wheaties this morning, and cruised to an "A" qualifying standard time to get the Eagles' DMR team qualified for nationals for the third straight season.

"Opportunity was knocking, and we answered the call today," said Head Coach Jonathan Zimmerman. "The guys took every advantage of their last chance to qualify for indoor nationals."
 
Zimmerman also mentioned the excitement that surrounds the DMR team getting qualified for the third consecutive season, mentioning the positive tradition that seems to be starting.
 
Ledesma also got himself qualified in the 3,000m race. He hit the "A" qualifying standard to earn himself a third event at the national meet. He and his relay partners will join 12 members of Biola's women's team who qualified for indoor nationals. Ledesma qualified earlier this season in the 5,000m.
 
"Danny has come on strong this winter," said Zimmerman. "Hats off to him for making his senior season a memorable one."
 
This is Ledesma's third consecutive year as a part of the Eagles' national distance medley relay team. He also went to the national meet for cross country for his third consecutive year earlier this fall.
 
Biola took a limited percentage of its team to this meet, as Zimmerman had specific plans for the events he was looking to make a push to qualify.
 
The Eagles get back on the track for a meet at La Verne on March 1. The national team participants will compete in Ohio March 6-8.
