LA MIRADA, Calif. --- If home-field advantage existed in swimming and diving, Biola would surely have it for this year's Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference championships.

The conference championship meet is currently being held at SPLASH! Aquatic Center, directly across La Mirada Blvd. from the Biola campus.
 
The Eagles' contingent of swimmers and divers will compete across all different individual and relay events over the course of the four-day meet, which concludes on Saturday.
 
The first two days have proven to be successful for Biola on numerous levels, as Head Coach Eddie Shepard and the team have witnessed many on the team drop times and make national qualifying cuts.
 
"We had a very rewarding first two days of swims," said Shepard. "This is an incredibly fast meet, and our team has stepped up and performed their best. Whenever teammates start putting up strong swims, it gives the entire team the confidence they need in order to carry the positive momentum to the rest of the meet."
 
The strong performances were headlined by a record-setting swim put up by the women's 200-medley relay. Three of the four swimmers in this relay were not tapered, and not rested, but the group still put up a strong showing to finish sixth in the finals.
 
Sixth place was a great finish for Angela Kirschner, Sarah Shepard, Christine Tixier and Victoria Turner. They four swimmers pushed their way to a quicker time than the school record of 1:47.58, which was already a time set by Kirschner, Tixier and Shepard.
 
Austin Sarna rejoined the team at the beginning of this semester, and his presence is already being felt. He hit NAIA national championship meet qualifying times in the 200-freestyle and 50-freestyle on Thursday.
 
James Daughters and Turner also hit national qualifying marks in the 50-freestyle.
 
Outside of the top finish by the relay team, Alyssa Roden got Biola's only other top eight performance over the first two days of the competition. The diver placed seventh with a 191.25 in the final round of the three-meter diving competition.
 
Competition resumes tomorrow afternoon with the 100-meter competitions in each stroke, and the 200-freestyle.
 
"I am confident that we will have another great day of swims," said Shepard.
