SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- The Eagles concluded their first spring tournament on Tuesday afternoon with three rounds that were very similar to day one.
 
The day began cloudy, cold and very overcast, and there was not much bright sun to shine until late in the back nine. It affected all of the golfers, and made the course just a bit more difficult to get up and down on.
 
The conditions made for some tough holes as the day rolled along, this lead to two rounds of 90 for the Eagles' golfers. Jackie Mata led the day for Biola yet again, shooting a round of 80, one stroke better than her finish from yesterday.
 
"As our team captain she has rallied our team and been a great leadership presence on and off the course," said women's golf coach Jane Carr.
 
She finished the tournament in a seven-way tie for 23rd. She built her strong round with a birdie on hole six, and another par that was nearly a birdie on hole eight.
 
Jasmine Rodriguez and Amanda Hobbs both shot the 90s in the final round, keeping them tied after they both shot 87s yesterday.
 
Both golfers showed poise and determination as they fought through the conditions to put their rounds on the board. Carr mentions seeing great growth in Rodriguez.
 
"It is evident by her spring season-opener that she spent a lot of time working on her game in the offseason," said Carr. "She is definitely stepping up the mental aspect of her game, and I know her scores will show later this spring."
 
Biola only sent three golfers and did not qualify for the team potion of the tournament. California Baptist won the title by three strokes after a hard charge from Nathalie Silva helped her win the individual title. They also had another golfer in the top four.
 
California Baptist will be the host at the Eagles' next tournament. They travel to Riverside for the CBU Women's Invitational Feb. 24-25.
