LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Volleyball clinched its first Golden State Athletic Conference championship in 17 years this weekend, and on Wednesday it was announced the Eagles had three GSAC Scholar-Athletes on thei 2014 roster.
 
Amy Weststeyn, Lauren Hoenecke and Alyssa Mason each add scholar-athlete recognition to their All-GSAC status and earlier GSAC Player of the Week recognition.
 
Biola's running total of conference scholar-athlete nods is up to 14 as it took three of the 20 GSAC volleyball scholar-athlete awards.
 
Weststeyn claimed her second GSAC Scholar-Athlete award. She is a senior journalism major. Hoenecke and Mason are each taking the honor for the first time. Hoenecke is a junior biological science major and Mason is a junior communication disorders major.
 
In order to earn scholar-athlete recognition the student-athletes must be a junior or senior and have a cumulative grade point average over 3.50.
 
The volleyball team just finished its regular season and continues into postseason play at the NAIA National Championship Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa beginning Dec. 2.
