ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. --- Biola had a chance to improve on day two of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo's Firestone Grill Women's Golf Invitational, but a tough day led them to stay exactly where they were after day one, 11^th of 13 teams.
 
Biola's scoring team shot a 366 to follow its day one score of 344. The 22-stroke drop-off kept the Eagles from moving up the leaderboard, but they still managed to stay three strokes in front of Idaho State to hold onto their spot on the leaderboard.
 
For the second round in a row, Whitney Jammerman had the low score for Biola, ending her tournament with an 86. She paired that with her round one 83 to finish in a tie for 48^th place overall with a 169 (+23).
 
"It was a struggle today. It was a real test of their mental game," said Head Coach Jane Carr. "The fall season is really a warm-up for the spring. I know the ladies are going to build on what they have learned about themselves and come out stronger in the spring."
 
While the 366 today led to a finish that was a disappointing 49 strokes behind the 10^th place CSU Monterrey Bay team, which improved on its round one score by 20-plus strokes, the Eagles still posted two rounds that would fall into its top-10 team scores from the 2013-14 season, including its first-round 344 beating all other team scores posted last year.
 
That improvement is sparked by the talented mix of newcomers and returning players that are beginning to mix together better and better as the year progresses.
 
"With six new players on the team, our ladies have really come together as a team," said Carr.
 
Jammerman is just one of those newcomers whose light shone brightly this weekend. She started off her second round very well, with two pars in the first three holes, just missing a birdie on her very first hole. Another par later in the round helped her to a second consecutive day in the mid-80s while most of the other Eagles players slipped into the low-90s or more.
 
"Whitney is really beginning to hit her stride," said Carr. "She brings a great sense of determination and focus to the team. She always putts aggressively and because of that she makes a lot of up-and-downs and one putts."
 
Sarah Paravia is another new player making an immediate impact in just her second collegiate tournament. She followed her first-round 86 with an 88 to finish just five strokes behind Jammerman with the second-lowest individual score for Biola.
 
She finished alone in 55^th overall with a 174 (+28) thanks to five pars in the second round.
 
Jasmine Rodriguez (+34), Amanda Hobbs (+43) and Lauren Van Horn (+51) rounded out the scores for Biola. Van Horn posted a day two score five strokes better than round one. She was the only Eagle to improve in the second round.
 
Santa Clara College improved from third-place after day one to take the team title following the second round. The Broncos followed up their 306 from day one with a 294 on day two to finish four strokes ahead of Northern Arizona.
 
Rebecca Bostrom, of CSU Northridge, matched her round one tally of 72 to take the individual title. Her 144 (-2) was 25 strokes in front of Jammerman's best individual effort for Biola.
 
The Eagles finish their fall slate Nov. 3-4 at the CSU San Marcos Fall Classic at Twin Oaks Golf Course.
