LA MIRADA, Calif. --- It was an unsuspecting Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Ore. and the Biola women's Volleyball team was squaring off against the Bobcats from UC Merced.
 
It was Biola's third match of the season and they entered play 1-1 on the year, their only loss coming at the hands of Southern Oregon just a day earlier.
 
The Eagles went on to defeat the Bobcats 3-1 and picked up another win over Oregon Tech (3-0) later that day.
 
Two significant streaks started on that Saturday in Oregon. The win over UC Merced began an 18-game winning streak that helped Biola surge to a 19-1 record, and the win over Southern Oregon sparked seven straight matches where Biola blanked their opponents.
 
The win streak included victories over four ranked opponents, including No. 3 Lee, No. 7 Rocky Mountain, No. 13 The Master's and No. 5 Westmont.
 
It was a magical year for the Eagles as they went on to finish 31-5 and make it into the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics semifinals.
 
The run through the NAIA tournament proved that Biola volleyball deserves to be mentioned among the names of other top programs in the nation, and they ended the year ranked No. 4.
 
The team placed second in the conference after going 12-2 in Golden State Athletic Conference play, and they had four players honored as NAIA All-Americans.
