LA MIRADA, Calif. --- After two separate stretches of over two weeks without notching a win, Biola women's tennis pulled out two victories in a span of just eight days, with wins over Mills College and Pacific Lutheran.
 
The team ran away with the match against Mills on March 16, picking up an 8-1 victory, their largest margin of victory since a 9-0 defeat of Hope International in 2011.
 
The win against Mills was the team's only road victory of the season. It was their first since defeating Arizona Christian 5-4 Feb. 22.
 
They returned home to face Pacific Lutheran on March 23. The team had suffered two losses since their victory against Mills, but entered play focused and ready to take on the Lutes.
 
They did not appear focused early; dropping four of the first six sets, finding themselves with their back against the wall, needing three straight wins.
 
It was Susan Carmichael at No. 4 singles who began the Eagles' rally. She won her match in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-2. The win tightened the gap, but still left Biola two wins away from the victory.
 
Next up was Olivia Koelsch, who needed every minute of her second set to drop her opponent. She battled through the difficult second set, coming from behind to take the victory (6-3, 6-4).
 
Lauren Vogel and Catherine Miolla faced ach other in the ninth and deciding matchup. Vogel won the first set and Miolla ran away with the second set, setting things up for a deciding third set.
 
Vogel, just like the Biola team, needed to make a comeback. She faced two match points in the final set, and saved them both. She went on to win the final set 7-5 and the Eagles picked up their third and final victory of the season.
 
They would finish 3-18 overall and 1-9 in Golden State Athletic Conference play.
