LA MIRADA, Calif. --- It was a wet, rainy, miserable two-day period in Oregon, but the women's golf team pushed through the difficult conditions to finish in a tie for second at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics qualifier.
 
Concordia (Ore.) took advantage of playing in their home state and won the NAIA regional, which doubled as the Cascade Collegiate Conference championships.
 
The Eagles shot a 345 in the first round, finishing just seven shots behind the cavaliers. Ava Lourenco and Lauren Marlow paced Biola, each shooting an eight-over 80. 
 
The team fell behind a bit in round two, shooting a 347, just the fourth lowest score of the round. A resurgent round three helped the Eagles tie for second with the College of Idaho at +165.
 
Laurenco went on to lead the Eagles in the second round, shooting an 84, and she finished within 20 strokes of the leader, tied for fifth with a 244.
 
Marlow led Biola with a 79 in the final round. This was the lowest score registered for the Eagles in the tournament and it helped Marlow tie with her teammate for the fifth place finish.
 
The weather made the three-round tournament a difficult one for the Eagles, but Head Coach Hank Woodrome was pleased with their second place finish and the two strong individual finishes.
 
This was Biola's second runner-up finish of the year, and turned out to be their final action of the year, as they did not advance to the NAIA national championships.
 
They had previously finished second at the CSU San Marcos fall classic as Laurenco won Biola's first individual tournament championship. The two second-place finishes were the team's top placements of the year.
