Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 REDDING, Calif. --- Trevor Oaks pitched a complete-game five-hit shutout, striking out 15 batters to give Biola a 4-0 win in game one at Simpson University. However, four errors opened the floodgates in the seventh innings as the Redhawks walked off with a 7-6 win in game two of a non-conference series on Friday.

The Eagles finish the day at 28-13 while the Redhawks move to 3-29 on the year.

Oaks had the best start of his young Biola career, tossing the complete game victory in game one. He struck out a career-high 15 batters in the game, walking just one, allowing five hits over nine innings.

Oaks got some offensive help--not as much as in Thursday's game, but enough to get the win. In the first inning, Biola got an early run thanks to a Simpson error. Vince Lawrence led off the game with a single--his seventh hit in his last seven at-bats. Johnny Farrington should have been retired on a foul popup, but the ball dropped in for an error, giving him new life. He then singled to right center to move Lawrence to third. A sacrifice fly by Benji Sutherland brought in Lawrence with the game's first run.

In the fifth inning, the Eagles added two more runs as Sutherland drove home a run with a ground out and Sam Thorne brought in another with a double. Biola capped the scoring with a run in the ninth thanks to an RBI single by Lawrence to score Tanner Swire.

Meanwhile, Oaks shut down the Redhawks, only allowing use two Simpson runners to third base in the game.

Game two saw the Biola offense come on strong late, but the defense crumble and give Simpson a rare victory.

David Schwab--who has missed time with an injury--made his return to the mound, allowing one unearned run on two hits over five innings.

Biola got on the board first with a run in the third inning. Sage Poland opened the inning with a single followed by a single by Michael Chriss. David McNeill then brought home Poland with a single down the left-field line. However, the Eagles could not add on and led 1-0.

However, in the bottom of the third inning, a throwing error by the Eagles allowed the Redhawks to tie the game at 1-1.

Biola took back the lead in the sixth inning as Sam Thorne hit a two-run home run to left-center to make it a 3-1 contest.

But Simpson got those runs back against new pitchers for the Eagles, scoring two runs including an earned run to tie the game.

The Eagles appeared to take over the game with a three-spot in the top of the seventh in the seven-inning contest. With two out and a runner at first, Lawrence singled to center followed by a single to right by Johnny Farrington which brought home Chriss. Sutherland then singled home another run followed by an RBI-single by Thorne. When the dust settled, Biola held a comfortable 6-3 lead.

But four errors led to four runs and a walk-off win. Back-to-back fielding errors let Simpson get on base with one out. Garrett Picha was able to get a strikeout for the second out. But another field error loaded the bases. After walking in a run the Red Hawks picked up another run with a single to make it a one-run game. Simpson got another hit to tie the game and a fielding error in the outfield to allow the winning run to score.

Biola closes out the four-game series on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. before heading home and returning to GSAC play next weekend.
