Box Score REDDING, Calif. --- Nick Turner threw a complete game, five-hit shutout and Vince Lawrence broke a school record with six hits as Biola cruised past Simpson University 12-0 on Thursday in the first game of a four-game series in Redding.

The Eagles pick up their second-straight non-conference win, improving to 22-17 on the season. The Redhawks fall to 2-18.

Turner continued his impressive senior season with another dominating performance. He allowed just five hits and walked a pair of batter while striking out nine, improving to 9-2 on the season.

Lawrence led the offense by accounting for 1/3 of the team's 18 hits, become the first Biola player to ever record six hits in a game. He was a perfect 6-for-6 in the game recording six singles. Despite being on base he scored just one of the team's 12 runs.

Michael Annunziata went 3-for-5 in the game with a double and three RBIs while Sam Thorne also went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a pair of doubles.

Biola got off to a quick start with two in the top of the first. Paul Slater and Lawrence recorded singles to open the game and a walk to Benji Sutherland loaded the bases with no one out. Thorne drove in the first run with a fielder's choice ground out. Annunziata followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0.

Biola would score one more in the second, taking advantage of an error with Lawrence driving in the run with a two-out single.

In the fifth inning, Thorne hit a two-out double and came around to score the fourth run of the game with a single to make it 4-0 through five inning.

The Eagles blew the game open late with eight runs over the final three innings. In the seventh, Thorne reached on an error and scored on a double by Annunziata who later came around to score on a sacrifice fly.

In the eighth, Johnny Farrington opened the inning with a single and pinch-hitter Michael Chriss hit a double to put two in scoring position. Lawrence singled through the left side to drive in Farrington. Sutherland followed with an RBI-ground out to make it 8-0. Thorne then doubled in an other run and would eventually come around to score on a passed ball to give the Eagles a 10-0 lead.

Luke Klocek led off the ninth inning with a solo home run to left field and a pair of errors accounted for the Eagles' other run to cap the scoring. Lawrence would cap off his strong day with a single to right to give him six hits in six at-bats.

The series continues on Friday with a doubleheader beginning at Noon and concludes on Saturday with a single game at 11:00 a.m.
