LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Thanks to solid showings from the swim teams and the women's indoor track and field squad at their respective national tournaments, Biola moved up six spots in the standings to No. 12 overall out of 176 NAIA schools scoring points by scoring 191.50 points in the winter to finish with 334.50 points through the first two seasons.
The Eagles' swim teams had solid showings at the NAIA Swimming and Diving Championships. The women finished seventh overall to score 69 points in the standings while the men's team placed eighth and earned 49 points.
The women's indoor track and field team had another top 10 finish, scoring 73.5 points with a sixth-place finish at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Biola was narrowly edged out of 11th place by GSAC Rival Westmont, which scored one-half point more to finish 11th with 335.00 points thanks to the women's basketball team winning the NAIA Championship.
Biola was one of six GSAC teams recieving points in the Directors' Cup Standings and one of three in the Top 15. Concordia ranked fifth overall with 527.50 points with Westmont and Biola ranked 11th and 12th, respectively. Vanguard placed 37th with 206 points, The Master's finished 54th with 155 points and Hope International scored its first points thanks to its men's basketball team and is 119th with 53 points.
Biola has finished ranked in the 20 in the final standings the last four seasons.
The Learfield Sports Director's Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.
