GENEVA, Ohio --- Biola's 4x800 relay team finished as the national runners up--its best finish ever--to highlight action at day two of the 2013 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, on Friday.

The relay team of Kellian Hunt, Anika Gasner, Alexandra Sciarra and Alicia Hoverson, put together a great race, finishing second overall in 9:10.06. The relay team has finished in the top five in each of the last four years including a third-place finish last year.

"The women showed good focus and teamwork at the end of a very long qualifying day!" said Head Coach Jonathan Zimmerman. "We are beginning to establish some great traditions and and relays are certainly an exciting way to go in this regard. They spent a lot of time warming up, cooling down, recovering and then repeating the process again and again."

The finished helped the Eagles to 15th in team scoring through the first two days of the three-day championships.

Three school records crumbled today. Alexadra Sciarra came in to the 600 ranked No. 14, but will race in the finals with the fourth-fastest times in the prelims. She ran a qualifying time of 1:34.91 to break Brooke Forsi's record of 1:35.52, set last season as Forsi earned All-America honors with a fifth place finish in the event.

Anika Gasner also bettered her standing in the 800, coming in as the No. 8 seed and moving up two places by running the sixth fastest time at 2:16.12. The time was a personal best and shattered the indoor record set by Natasha Miller during the 2009 Indoor Championships.

Andrew Daedler broke the 1,000 record with a time of 2:30.04, besting Brian Ball's school record set at the 2007 NAIA Indoor Championships by nearly two seconds.

Chelsea Janzen recorded a personal best and qualified for the finals in the 3,000 with a time of 10:28.1. Janzen came in as the No. 19 seed overall, but ran the ninth-fastest prelim time.

Freshman Nicole Falkenstein placed 11th in the pole vault by clearing 3.35m.

Hunt also qualified for the finals of the 1,000 with a time of 2:54.70, missing the school record by a fraction of a second. She ran the third-fastest qualifying time after coming in as the seventh-seed.

On Saturday, opening ceremonies begin at 9:00 am (PST). Competing on Saturday will be:

Kellian Hunt (Mile), Alexandra Sciarra (600), Anika Gasner (800), Kellian Hunt (1,000), Chelsea Janzen (3,000), and the Women's Distance Medley Relay.
