Nick Turner Named GSAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola pitcher Nick Turner has been named the season's first GSAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week after a season-high 13 strikeout performance in a win over San Diego Christian College in a conference game on Saturday.

Turner, a senior from Palos Verdes, struck out 13 batters and allowed just four runs on five hits in his complete-game win over the Hawks. Turner allowed all four runs on four hits over the first three innings, but retired 15 of the final 16 batters including 12-straight at one point to earn the win.

Turner is now 5-1 with a 1.79 ERA in his six starts against GSAC competition this year. He leads the conference in ERA and strikeouts (44) in conference-only games and has walked just four batters in 40-1/3 innings. 

Overall, Turner is 5-2 with a 2.89 ERA in seven starts. He leads the team with three complete games, and ranks second with 47 strikouts in 46-2/3 innings. Turner is holding opposing hitters to a .232 batting average and has walked just six batters all season.

Biola currently is 16-12 and sits in a tie for third place in the conference with an 8-10 GSAC mark. The Eagles begin a three-game set with GSAC-leading The Master's College on Friday at 3:00 p.m. with the series concluding with a doubleheader on Saturday at Noon.
