MATCH REPORT

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- Biola's women's tennis team lost its GSAC opener on Saturday, falling 8-1 to No. 8 Westmont College at the Abbott Tennis Courts on the Westmont campus.

The Eagles drop to 0-2 on the season and are 0-1 in GSAC play while the Warriors are 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Biola's best match came in the win at No. 1 singles where Kathryn Ashford battled through a close match against Westmont's Jessica Cedillo. Ashford lost the first set in a tiebreaker, falling 7-6 (7-4), but battled back and won the second 6-4. With the match already having been wrapped up by the Warriors, the two played a 10-point tiebreaker with Ashford pulling away late to win 10-7.

Biola returns to the courts on Tuesday, traveling south to face No. 10 Vanguard in a GSAC match beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Costa Mesa.
