SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- Biola had a strong showing in the middle of its indoor season as six individuals and a relay qualified for the NAIA Indoor National Championship meet at the Sunshine Invitational hosted by Westmont College on Saturday.

The Eagles opened the day with a solid performance in the women's 4x800 as Kellian Hunt, Allie Sciarra, Anika Gasner and Alicia Hoverson finished first in 9:23.46, which was 22 seconds faster than the automatic qualifying time.

Nicole Falkenstein also punched her ticket in the pole vault, equaling the qualifying mark by clearning 3.48 meters to win the event. Lauren Houck also qualified in the field events, earning 2,792 points en route to a second place finish in the pentathlon to better the 2,700 minimum. 

In the distance events, Neysa Mains and Rachel Stump finished as provisional qualifiers in the 5,000 with times of 18:27.77 and 18:29.85, respectively. The two finished first and second in the event.

On the men's side, Andrew Daedler and Danny Ledesma finished under the automatic qualifying time in the mile. Daedler crossed in 4:18.35, just ahead of Ledesma's 4:18.71.

Biola had a number of first-place finishers on the day. On the women's side, Brooke Arvidson won the 1,000m with a time of 3:08.3 with Ilima Kung finishing just behind her in 3:08.72 for second place. Whitney Fredenburg also won the discus with a throw of 30.99m.

Joseph Haradedian took home first place in the 5,000 with a time of 16:27.82 while Christian Dunbar won the men's high jump with a leap of 1.74m.

Other noteable finishers were Anika Gasner, who placed second in the 600m in 1:39.1. Chelsea Janzen also finished second in the 3,000m in 10:38.81 as did Megan Crumley in the discus with a throw of 30.37m. Alex Calkins cleared 4.56 meters in the pole vault to finish second.
