PASADENA, Calif. --- Biola closed out a another busy week with a close, hard-fought non-conference match at Cal Tech on Saturday, falling 7-2 at the Braun Tennis Courts.
The Eagles fall to 1-6 while Cal Tech stays perfect at 3-0.
Susan Carmichael was part of both wins for the Eagles. In the singles portion of the competition, Carmichael won a close match at No. 4 singles, winning a hard-fought set 6-2, 3-6, 10-5 over Michelle Lee.
Carmichael then teamed up with Kathryn Ashford for a 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles.
Ashford had a very close match at No. 1 singles as well against Monica Li. After dropping the first set 7-5, Ashford fought back and took the second set 7-6 (8-6) to force a tiebreaker. The two went back and forth past 10 points with Li eventually pulling it out at 12-10 win.
Biola returns to the courts on Tuesday, hosting Hope International in a GSAC match at 2:00 p.m.
