Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Senior Nick Turner tossed a complete-game, four-hit shutout, striking out 10 batters with just 108 pitches as Biola defeated Arizona Christian 2-0 in a GSAC game on Sunday afternoon at Eagles Diamond.

The Eagles improve to 9-3 on the season and move into sole possession of first place in the GSAC with a record of 5-3. The Firestorm drops to 4-4 and to 4-4 in the conference.

Turner moves to 3-0 on the season with the win and drops his ERA to 0.39 on the season. He finished with 10 strikeouts and no walks in the complete-game victory, marking the first time he had thrown more than eight innings in a game in his three-seasons with the Eagles.

Biola go on the board first, picking up a run in the second inning. With one out, Vince Lawrance singled through the left side for the first Eagle hit of the game. After a walk to David McNeill, Michael Annunziata singled to center to drive in Lawrence and make it 1-0.

Arizona Christian had its best chance to score in the fourth inning as Ryan Jones tried to score from second on a two-out single to center by Phil Creecy. But a great throw by Benji Sutherland nailed him at the plate and kept the Eagles with a 1-0 lead.

In the sixth, the Eagles added an insurance run with small ball. Paul Slater drew a walk to open the inning and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Luke Klocek. Sutherland drove home Slater with a single up the middle and the Eagles led 1-0 after six.

Turner closed out the game with three solid final innings, allowing just one baserunner on a Biola fielding error and striking four of the final seven batters he faced.

The teams close out the three-game series with a seven-inning game on Monday at 11:00 a.m.
