LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola was one of the best offensive and defensive teams in the Golden State Athletic Conference throughout the 2013 season, and that is evidenced by a forward and defenseman being honored with 2013 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-American honors.
 
Danie Chew, a senior forward from Lake Forest, Calif., was named to the NAIA All-American third team, while Kevin Kiser, a senior out of Costa Mesa, Calif. was named an honorable mention.
 
Both players were key in Biola's battling through the season and earning their best regular season winning percentage in program history. Chew led the team with 18 goals, a career-high and third most in a single season all-time, and Kiser anchored the Eagles' back line, a back line that allowed the second fewest goals in the conference.
 
Chew's All-American nod is the first of his four-year career at Biola. He ends his journey with the Eagles as an All-American, all-conference, Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American and a scholar-athlete.
 
"For him, this is a product of a lot of hard work through his younger years," said Head Coach Todd Elkins. "He's always a really hard worker, who is super determined. It is good when a guys like that receives some recognition."
 
He is also one of the highest scoring players ever to don the black and red, scoring 33 career goals to tie him for the fifth most all-time. He was also known for being clutch, scoring five game-winning goals over the course of his four years, and netting every penalty kick he ever attempted.
 
He scored three of his five game-winners this season, including one on Oct. 12, when he scored the first three goals in a 4-1 win over Westmont that helped keep the Eagles on pace to finish second in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
 
"Even more than garnering the recognition, it was good to see him grow, he got a lot better and a lot stronger in his time here," said Elkins. "He was so crucial to us and the success we had this season. He reached such a high level in this, his last season."
 
Kevin Kiser is a two-time All-GSAC athlete, and now finds himself on the NAIA All-American honorable mention list for the first time. Kiser has been one of the most consistent players in Biola history, appearing in 77 matches over his four seasons, and holding down a talented defense.
 
"He was one of just two returners to the starting back line this year, so he really had to step up," said Elkins. "He is a great athlete, not many players can run past him, and his pace helps him cover if guys get past some other players."
 
He was the leader of the back line this season, and even got involved a little bit on offense this year, putting in one goal and one assist in his 19 appearances. His lone goal of the season was an impressive one from 30 yards out that sealed a 4-2 win over The Master's Oct. 2.
 
"He helped all our other players, including our keeper, do their job better," said Elkins.
 
Chew and Kiser are the first Eagles' men's soccer players to land on the All-American list since Aaron Fenlason and Cody Shelton made the third team and honorable mention list in 2011.
 
Biola men's soccer ended the season ranked 24^th in the NAIA with a 14-4-1 record. They finished the regular season and GSAC tournament in second place and came just one spot shy of qualifying for the NAIA national tournament.
