LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Four Eagles landed on the list of Golden State Athletic Conference scholar-athletes after the 2013 volleyball regular season.
Devon Brown,
Gracee Gallarda,
Emily Weingartner and
Amy Weststeyn each earned the academic honor for Biola.
Â
In order to become a scholar-athlete the women must be at least a junior and earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
Â
Weingartner, a senior kinesiology major, is the only repeat award-winner for Biola; she earned the honor in her junior season also.
Â
Brown, a junior business administration major, and Weststeyn, a junior journalism major, will both have a chance to tack on a second honor next season.
Â
The Eagles have a long history of academic success, garnering 26 GSAC scholar-athlete honors since the 2008 season. Eleven different Eagles have won multiple scholar-athlete nods over that span.
Â
In just over a week, the team head to Sioux City, Iowa to compete in pool play at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics national championship tournament.
Â
A list of NAIA scholar-athletes will be released closer to the end of November.
