Biola's scorers combined for a 371 (+83) to put them in sixth place.

SAN MARCOS, Calif. --- The Biola women got a foot in the door on Monday as they shot a 371 (+83) on day one of the CSU San Marcos Fall Classic.

The Eagles played well at the lengthy Twin oaks Golf Course in north San Diego.

Jackie Mata navigated the course's narrow fairways to post a respectable round of 89 to sit just 15 strokes off the pace and lead Biola as she sits in 16th.

Amanda Hobbs (93, +21) and Jasmine Rodriguez (94, +22) finished the day back-to-back in 25th and 26th as the next two finishers for the Eagles.

Beth Williams (95, +23) and Megan Anderson (98, +26) rounded out Biola's counting scores. They sit at 29th and 31st overall.

All of the Eagles scores add up to leave them in sixth place out of eight teams, 66 strokes out of first place. CSU San Marcos has a firm grasp on the competition after the first round, sitting 15 strokes in front of second place Embry-Riddle (Ariz.).

Competition resumes and wraps up tomorrow, as all eight squads will hit the links early in the morning in projected clear skies in the low to mid 60s.
