LA MIRADA, Calif. --- After another stellar week in which she and the rest of Biola's back four held two Golden State Athletic Conference opponents scoreless,
Morgan Aukshunas was named GSAC defensive player of the week for games played between Oct. 7-13.
Â
This is the senior defender's second time this season winning this award and the second of her four-year career.
Aukshunas played standout defense in BU's 6-0 win over Arizona Christian and 0-0 draw with No. 3 Westmont. She effectively ended any thought of attack on the right wing against both teams, and picked up two team saves against Westmont, one of the top five scoring teams in the conference.
Â
In addition to her excellent defense the senior added a goal and an assist in just 48 minutes played in the Eagles' shutout over ACU.
Â
The award makes her the only athlete this season to win more than one nod as the conference defensive player of the week. Her two, plus
Briana Williams' one nod give the Eagles a conference-leading three honors this year.
Â
Aukshunas and Biola have two road matches this week. They travel to San Diego Christian on Wednesday and take on Vanguard on Saturday.
