A Win for Williams

Briana Williams was named GSAC defensive player of the week for Sept. 23-29.

Briana Williams has been solid in the net for the Eagles, picking up four shutouts in five wins. She leads the GSAC in shutouts.
LA MIRADA, Calif. --- For the second consecutive week a Biola athlete has been awarded the honor of Golden State Athletic Conference women's soccer defensive player of the week. Goalkeeper Briana Williams claims the award for the fourth time in her two seasons as an Eagle and the first time this season.

Williams scoops up the award after scooping up every shot that came her way last week en route to a 1-0 shutout win over the Argonauts of Notre Dame de Namur.

The junior keeper increased her season save total by five as she picked up her fourth shutout and fifth win of the year. This win was her fist win against a non-NAIA opponent, as the Argonauts are a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II.

Williams' four shutouts lead the conference and she finds herself ranked third in all of the other categories: saves (20), save percentage (.870), saves per game (3.33) and goals against average (0.54).

Williams and the No. 24 Eagles take the pitch today to battle No. 13 The Master's College. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Al Barbour Field.
