FRESNO --- Facing an incredibly tough Fresno Pacific team, Biola swam well and posted solid times despite a bit of a misleading final score in a dual meet in Fresno on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles lost both duals, falling 204-61 on the men's side and 175-106 on the women's side. However, those final totals including points for diving which Biola did not compete in.

"We had a lot of really good swims today against a strong Fresno team," said Biola Head Coach Eddie Shepard. "Our women swam particularly strong. If we took away the 26pts that Fresno got for diving, it was a close meet. Our relays were not quite able to compete with theirs and that is what ended up hurting us most in the end."

Biola added another swimmer to its nationals team as Tori Andreas picked up a nationals cut in the 200 free with a time of 2:02.97, finishing second overall. 

Abby Blake and Christine Tixier each won a pair of events. Blake took both distance freestyle events, winning the 500 in 5:15.96 and taking first place in the 1,000 in 10:44.86. Tixier won the 200 fly in 2:09.42 and the 200 individual medley in 2:13.01.

Megan Bredendberg also finished first for the Eagles, touching first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:40.31.

On the men's side, Eric Sirjord placed first overall in the 1,000 with a time of 9:54.28.

"It was a great opportunity for both our men's and women's squad to get in some good races as we prepare for conference in just over two weeks," said Shepard. "I think with some rest, that we are going to have a really strong finish to our season."

Biola closes out the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 2, hosting Concordia University in a dual meet at Splash Aquatics Center in La Mirada at 10:00 a.m. The Eagles then head to the Pacific Collegiate Swimming Conference meet also at Splash, Feb. 13-16.
