Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola held a commanding 14-4 shot advantage in its home opener on Thursday afternoon, but Colorado Christian made its last shot count as Danielle Gershon headed home a cross with just over two minutes left as the Eagles fell 1-0 to the Cougars in a non-conference match at Al Barbour Field.

Biola drops to 0-2-0 and is still look for its first goal of the season after a pair of 1-0 defeats to start the year. Colorado Christian picks up a win in its first game under first-year head coach Renee Lopez.

Biola seemed to dominate the game through the first 60 minutes, amassing 13 of its 14 shots over that span including 10 in the first half. However, the Cougars began to clamp down on defense as the game looked destined for overtime.

With just over two minutes to play, Colorado Christian put together a solid push forward and created its lone quality scoring chance. Cora Averasano took the ball through the Biola defense and went wide toward the far side of the field toward the end line. She then lofted a perfect pass into the front of the net where Gershon flicked it into the Eagles' net for the game's first goal.

Biola had its chances, one especially late in the game. With nine minutes remaining, junior forward Jessica Austin received a great pass into a one-on-one with the CCU netminder. She made a quick move to get the goalkeeper into a slide then chipped a shot toward the open net. However, the shot scooted just wide and the score stayed 0-0.

The Eagles also had a flurry of shot attempts in the first five minutes, putting three on frame with a pair requiring great saves by Cougar goalkeeper Caitlyn Moses, who made eight saves in the game.

Biola returns to action on Saturday for an exhibition game at former GSAC rival Azusa Pacific University beginning at 5:00 p.m.
