AZUSA, Calif. --- Biola finished fourth on both the men's and women's sides to close out one of its best conference meets in program history on Saturday at the GSAC Championships held at Azusa Pacific University.
The men's team had its best finish in program history, besting its fifth place finish last season and scoring 105 total points in the competition. The women also finished fourth with a total of 107 points. The finishes were the same on both sides for the top five teams with Azusa Pacific winning both team titles, Fresno Pacific taking second, Westmont third and Point Loma Nazarene finishing fourth.
No individual titles were won, but there were a number of solid finishes. For the men, Jordan Smith scored a number of points in the field events. He finished tied for second overall in the high jump, clearing 6 feet, 7 inches (2.01m). Smith also placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 22 feet, 9,75 inches (6.95m) and was eighth in the triple jump at 42 feet, 2.25 inches (12.86m).
Peter Stacy was sixth in the discus with a toss of 118 feet, 11 inches (36.26m) and was seventh in the shot put at 39 feet, 9.75 inches (12.13m).
In the 5,000m, Collin Christensen and Kevin Horchler placed second and third respectively. Christensen, who won the 10,000m run on Friday, crossed in 15:29.24 with Horchler finishing in 15:33.63. Brian Aukshunas also picked up a pair of points in the event with a seventh-place finish in 16:16.94.
Fresh off her individual title in the steeplechase, Nychelle Fischetti recorded a forth-place finish in the 1,500m run, crossing in 4:43.86.
She also placed fifth in the 800m in 2:18.47 with Brooke Forsi finishing third in 2:15.66. Jane Kerner also picked up a point in eighth place with a time of 2:24.81.
In the field events, Megan Dwight brought home a total of five points with a sixth-place finish in the triple jump (34 feet, 0 inches - 10.36m) and a seventh-place finish in the long jump (16 feet, 9.25 inches - 5.11m).
Biola now prepares for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships held in Marion, Indiana, May 24-26.
