EL CAJON, Calif. --- Biola wrapped up its 2011-12 season with a strong showing at the 2012 GSAC/Cal Pac/CCC Qualifier tournament a the Willow Glen Course at the Sycuan Resort on Monday and Tuesday, finishing fifth overall out of six teams and breaking 700 for just the second time this season.
The Eagles shot a 699 to finish fifth overall out of six teams at the tournament, 35 shots ahead of Corban University and 29 behind fourth-place Warner Pacific College. Monday's opening round was played in cool temperatures and drizzle while Tuesday was sunny and played in the mid-70s. Biola actually did better in the drizzle, carding a 346 in the first round, then a 353 in the second.
Lauren Marlow tied for 11th overall to lead Biola out of the 32-players in the tournament. She shot a two-round total of 163 (86-77).
Jackie Mata finished close behind, shooting her best collegiate round of 83 in the first round to help the Eagles. She would fire an 86 to finish with her lowest two-round score of the year at 169.
Claire Prentice shot a 183 to finish in 24th place overall while
Beth Williams finished a shot behind at 184 in 25th place. Williams recorded her lowest collegiate round score with a first-round 87 and finished the season by lowering her scoring average by 17 strokes over last year.
