LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola senior infielder
Drake Fages has been named the Golden State Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week after recording a home run in each of Biola's four games against Point Loma Nazarene University last week.
Fages, a senior from Temecula, had a solid week at the plate, hitting four home runs and recording 10 RBIs to help the Eagles win three of four games against the Sea Lions and move into third place in the GSAC.
Fages was 7-for-18 (.389) at the plate with 10 RBIs and a 1.111 slugging percentage. He hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning of Thursday's game, breaking a 3-3 tie and giving Biola an eventual win. Fages repeated the feat the next day with a three-run home run to put the game out of reach in a 10-6 win. He then connected on home runs in each of his first at-bats in the Saturday doubleheader which the two teams split.
Fages, who as a 2012 NAIA Preseason All-American, has appeared in just 21 games this season after battling an injury through the first half of the year. Over that time, he has recorded a .319 batting average with five home runs, 19 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
Biola is 22-24 on the season and currently sits in the third place in the GSAC standings with a 15-13 conference mark. The Eagles close out the regular season this week with a four-game series against San Diego Christian College. The first two games are in La Mirada, part of a doubleheader on Thursday beginning at Noon. The series wraps up in El Cajon on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
